Arts of the Albemarle is a regional non-profit arts council located in downtown Elizabeth City, NC at The Center, the renovated historical Lowry-Chesson building. This world class arts facility houses The Jaquelin Jenkins Gallery, home to over 250 artists; The Maguire Theatre, a state of the art performance space; and our School of the Arts. Take a personalized walking tour of Elizabeth City at its best! Journey into the past with a tour of the historic district covering over 350 years of history. The twenty block area of historic downtown features a diverse collection of antique homes, including one of the largest collections of Antebellum buildings and homes in the state. Upon returning from the tour you will view the inside of the oldest Brick home, be treated to a complementary tea and learn about antiques from the Empire to the Eastlake period. The tour is approximately two hours and is year round, by appointment only. |

The complex sponsors stock cars, go-cart, and motorcycle races on different tracks at the site. The oval dirt stock car track is 3/8 mile. Stock car divisions raced are Budweiser All-Stars, Biggs GMC Super Fours, T-Top Sportsman, Little Caesars Super Streets, and Zero’s Subs of Camden Stock Fours. Go-carts race every other Saturday and motorcycles race on Sunday once a month. Open April - October |

Elizabeth

located in the historic Albemarle region of northeastern North
Carolina, was founded in 1891. As a constituent institution of The
University of North Carolina, ECSU offers 37 baccalaureate degree

system and venture out into the unknown depths of our universe. The
Planetarium houses a 30 ft dome with a seating capacity of 60, and it's
equipped with: • A SPITZ 512 Star Projector. • 40+ Allsky, Panorama, and special effect slide projectors. • DVD, VCR, and Laser Disc players. • Sony Video and LCD projectors with video and internet hook-up capability. • Green/red and white light laser systems. • Three screen video system. The Planetarium offers a wide array of educational programs for all ages: Star Shows, Videos, Laser Disc, etc. All shows are free, are by reservation only, and require prior notice. |

Encore Theatre Company is an all volunteer membership driven, nonprofit community theater organization whose purpose is to produce "Quality Community Theater" on a consistent basis. Encore is the resident theatre organization at the Museum of the Albemarle's Gaither Family Auditorium. |

The park consists of 2 tracks. They are a beginner/peewee track and a 1.4 mile outdoor style track featuring many head high loamy berms, tabletops, doubles, whoops and single jumps. This track is geared for entry level riders to pro caliber racers. The tracks consist of loamy sandy topsoil and are fully irrigated with over 130 sprinkler heads. |

waterfront vista, the new Museum of the Albemarle contains exhibits and
facilities enabling visitors to experience the general history of 13
counties in northeastern North Carolina. A chronological overview of the region is presented in the 7,000-square-foot main gallery with artifacts and graphics illustrating the geography and ecology of the area in addition to perspectives on its cultural development over the past 10,000 years. |

The Pines is a par 72 championship layout with five sets of tees. Golfers can play from 5,101 yards to 7,017 yards with "USGA spec." greens using a 50/50 blend of A1/A4 Bent grass which more than qualifies for a true Championship Course. The course features four par 3’s, ten par 4’s and four par 5’s. Full Golf and Out of Town Golf Memberships are available for families and individuals. Social Memberships are also available. Lighter-than-air ships have had a major impact on Elizabeth City’s history and economy. It is not uncommon to see Monster.com, Sanyo, Fuji Film, and other blimps flying high above the city as they make their way to the US Naval Blimp Hangar. Visitors wishing to tour the facility will get the opportunity to learn about the Navy’s lighter-than-air history in Elizabeth City as well as view the company’s plant. Tours are held on Wednesday at 3:00 pm and run 30-45 minutes. All tours need to be arranged ahead of time. |

United States Coast Guard base in Elizabeth City, opened in 1940, is the largest Coast Guard installation in the country. It is home to the following 6 commands: National Strike Force Coordination Center, Base Support Unit Elizabeth City, Aviation Technical Training Center, Air Station Elizabeth City, Station Elizabeth City and the Aviation Logistics Center. Scenes from the motion picture "The Guardian" were filmed at the air station. |
