Mariners' Wharf Film Festival presents, "Edge of the City" Relive the drive-in movie experience--sans the car--with Elizabeth City’s beautiful waterfront at Mariners’ Wharf as the backdrop. Classic American films from the 1930s, '40s, and '50s are shown on a large screen on nine consecutive Tuesdays at 8:30 PM from June 2 through July 28. EDGE OF THE CITY (1957; unrated; black-and-white; 85 minutes long) In this account of New York City dock life, a white army deserter and a black dock worker forge a friendship as they unite against a union racketeer. Their relationship provides an examination of integration in working-class society. Starring John Cassavetes, Sidney Poitier, Jack Warden and Ruby Dee. Be sure to bring a blanket or chairs. There is no admission and all screenings are FREE to the public.
